Celebrating the life of

John (Jack) Kouvel

April 19, 1938 - November 03, 2024

John (Jack) Kouvel

John (Jack) Kouvel, 86, of Savannah, Georgia passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 3, 2024.

Jack was born on April 19, 1938 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Saint Peter’s Prep, and Saint Peter’s College where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies and a Master’s degree in Insurance.

Jack was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Maureen Pizzo Kouvel; their devoted daughters, Karen M. Carter Inglese (husband Alex) and Barbara M. Duff (husband Donal); grandchildren, Kristen H. Inglese, Robert (Trey) L. Carter III,  Christen M. Duff, John (Jack) C. Carter, Brendan D. Duff, Tyler A. Duff, and Rebecca B. Inglese; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; two sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law. Jack was predeceased by his brother,  Charles and his son-in-law, Robert L. Carter, Jr.

Jack retired as Senior Vice President Account Executive at Alexander & Alexander (now AON Corporation) in New York City. Upon retiring, Jack moved to the Landings in 1991 to play his favorite sport, golf, which he affectionately referred to as “going to work”. Over the years, Jack amassed 19 holes-in-one, two club championships at his former club in New Jersey, and the Landings President Cup Championship. His favorite pastime was playing with the Working Men and Billy Blitz golf groups at the Landings.

More important to Jack than golf was keeping in touch with his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed talking with them about sports, politics, their careers and their social lives. Born and raised Catholic, Jack’s faith was the backdrop for the way he lived his life.  Truly an invested family man and friend, Jack will be missed by many.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Saint James the Less Catholic Church. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m. just prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jack's memory to The Landings Military Relief Fund, 2225 Norwood Ave Suite B, Savannah, GA 31406 or Saint James Catholic Church, 8412 Whitefield Ave, Savannah, GA 31406.
